Jalapeño Spicy Frosé

Jalapeño Spicy Frosé

Meet your next girls night beverage - Jalapeño Spicy Frosé. If you haven't heard, I declared Spicy Rosé the drink of the summer and most of you can agree.

So, let's jazz that up into a refreshing frozen beverage to cool us off while we ride out these humid August heat waves.

Jalapeño Spicy Frosé

Serving: 2 Glasses

Here's what you'll need:

  • Jalapeños - Add desired amount of jalapeños to your bottle of rosé.
  • 1 Cup of Frozen Watermelon Chunks
  • 1 Cup of Frozen Strawberries
  • 2 oz of Tequila or Vodka of Choice
  • 2 Tablespoons of Hot Honey - You can use regular honey or agave as well.
  • 1 oz of Lime Juice
  • Ice as Needed

Directions:

  1. Refrigerate jalapeños in Rosé for at least 3 hours. Six hours is optimal. Pro tip - prep this before work on Friday morning and you'll be set for Friday happy hour at home. Infusion time also depends on the spice level of the jalapeño. Just give it a sip after a few hours to check and see if you need to add more.
  2. Strain jalapeño infused rosé into blender.
  3. Blend all ingredients.
  4. Add ice as needed to make it into a slushy.
  5. Garnish with fresh strawberry, watermelon and a jalapeño slice.

How to tell how many jalapeños to use:

When it comes to infusing your rosé, or any spirit, with jalapeños, there is pretty much only one thing you need to know. Not all jalapeños are created equal. Some are so mild in heat, I can barely taste the spice. While others feel like they burn my eyes off as I cut them.
The amount of jalapeño peppers I use always varies. I am sure there is a science behind this but I am not a jalapeño connoisseur so I can only share my experiences. I can tell a jalapeño is super spicy if when I cut it, my eyes burn or the smell of spice makes me cough. I've also noticed that the jalapeños I buy at my grocery store are larger and very mild in heat compared to the smaller ones I buy from the local farmers market.
If you're unsure of how many jalapeño slices to add, play it safe and start small. You can always add more if necessary. Nothing is worse than ruining a perfectly good bottle or glass of rosé with too many peppers. This Spicy Frosé is meant to have a refreshing, sweet, heat taste. Not to be so spicy that when you sip it you're uncomfortable. Enjoyable and easy to drink but with a kick is the goal.

Serving Sizes:

This recipe makes 2 glasses of frosé. Double up if you want to use the entire bottle.

Suggested Hard Alcohol to Use:

Proceed with caution - mixing wine and liquor is not for the faint of heart, but if you're looking to loosen up with just one drink, this will do the trick. I pour a little less than a shot of spirit per glass of wine. I am a tequila girly but this is also great with vodka if that is your style. My tequila suggestions for this are Reposado Rosa Tequila by Tequila KOMOS or Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila. Any tequila will do the trick, these are just my two favorites for this drink. For vodka, I'd go with raspberry flavor. Stoli Razberi is my go to.
