One Pot Cheeseburger Pasta

One Pot Cheeseburger Pasta

30 minute delicious crowd pleasing dinner!

This meal is inspired by a red wine I received in my Bright Cellars wine delivery this month and WOW does it pair perfectly with this Cabernet. I love using my Bright Cellars wines as inspiration for meals. Here is my link if you would like to give it a try for yourself! $85, 6 bottles a month.

It’s my favorite monthly subscription and this is now my favorite weeknight dinner.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1/2 pound of short cut pasta (I love cavatappi with this! Macaroni shells, penne or bow tie would also work!)

  • 1/2 pound ground protein (beef, turkey or chicken..I used turkey)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 cup diced yellow onion (1 medium onion)

  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 3-4 cups beef broth

  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons hot dog relish (sweet relish mixed with a little yellow mustard)

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat

  2. Add ground turkey and diced onion

  3. When turkey is cooked through add salt pepper and seasonings, stir then add flour, stir, cook 1 minute

  4. Add 2 cups of beef broth and tomato sauce, stir to combine

  5. Once mixture reaches a boil, stir and cover skillet and lower heat to a simmer

  6. After 4 minutes, remove lid, add remaining beef broth, stir, then cover and simmer

  7. Continue to stir occasionally every few minutes until your pasta is cooked (about 10 minutes)

  8. Turn off heat, add in shredded cheddar cheese and butter, stir until butter and cheese are melted

  10. Top with green onions
